Welcome to the Real Food Revolution...

So what is a revolution?  It is something that requires a fundamental change in the way something is seen, perceived or understood.  A real food revolution requires us to turn our existing ideas about what goes into our mouths upside down!!

"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.  Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron...[they] order [people] to abstain form certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.  For everything God created is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer" (I Timothy 4:1-5 NIV).

It doesn't take much brain work to quickly think of a number of foods which people have been told are unhealthy, will cause inflammation, disease and death.  For the most part, any information or health claims regarding these foods made by food manufactures is not motivated by a desire to see people healthy but by the love of money.  They use the fears people have about getting sick and dying to get them to buy a certain product/food and when people are motivated by fear it usually works...

Up until relatively recently every race of people on the earth had some form of contact with their food from cultivation to preparation to ingestion.  For the most part, this has been lost in the late 20th and into the 21st century; we only see the "finished product".  This became abundantly clear when I recently saw Jamie Oliver asking a group of children to identify certain vegetables - and was genuinely shocked to see they did not know what tomatoes were!!

Most of the food we purchase is usually well presented and packaged with a variety of health claims shouting at us.  We therefore don't necessarily think in terms of the whole food just the nutrients: does this have too much fat or where do I get my calcium from?

To date scientists have discovered over 25,000 different components in fruit and vegetables alone!!  How these interact and work in synergy with each we are just scratching the surface on; so to take one nutrient in isolation like folic acid or vitamin D and expect it to be THE solution to whatever is going on in your body will not bring lasting health (although it may alleviate some symptoms for a time).

Wishing you the best of health,
